What is the Social Economy?
The social economy is a term used to describe ventures or communities of like minded individuals, that collectively work together and towards a people based or environmental goal. These communities and ventures put ‘purpose before personal profit’ and any trading surplus is reinvested to support the cause at hand.
Established in 1982, Coventry and Warwickshire Co-operative Development Agency (CWCDA) offer free, high quality and professional support to help people create and sustain all types of social enterprises. They also offer employment advice and deliver a range of other services that promote financial and economic inclusion. For more information visit cwcda.co.uk.
Socially Shared Business Network, is a successful women’s network, established in 2015. The network, is well known for professional but relaxed meetings, where people come together to connect, share knowledge, do business and offer support. A team of area hosts facilitate meetings at twelve different locations across the Midlands each month. For more information visit sociallyshared.co.uk
